Background:
Rural Watch project supported by EU is organizing local TV debates in the territory of the project. The public debates/ forums are communication instruments of the project, to enable the completion of the overall project objectives:
- improved environmental performances of energy and extractive industries in Albanian rural areas;
- increased transparency and accountability of public authorities and businesses related to extractive and energy industry (EEI) in rural areas
- rural communities (women and men) more informed and empowered to monitor and control energy and extractive industry in rural areas
The specific objective: Facilitating public debates/ forums on the EEI environmental degradation and measures/ recommendations by the Rural Watch Project, with the aim at strengthened civil society role in promoting monitoring standards and ensure the sustainable use of the natural resources from extractive and energy industry in rural areas.
Task duration and deadlines: The debates will be used a communication platform for the Rural Watch Project to share experience and findings in January and February 2020.
Geographic scope and language
Local TVs in the Project targeted territory, 5 hotspots including Bulqiza (Chromium and HEC contsructions in Mat River); Elbasan, (Librazhd- HEC in Shkumbin and in Shebenik Jabllanice Park); Fier (Roskovec oil extracting industry in Patos Marinez); Vlora (Selenice - HEC in Shushica River).
Expected outcomes
- 5 public debates organized in the Local TVs
